Red Nose Day
After every fund raising event, we are amazed by the generosity and enthusiasm of all our parents and children. This year’s National fund raising by Comic Relief was a colourful sight at CIS. Almost every child and member of staff turned up in red clothes, or funny outfits and the playground looked spectacular at break time.
The funniest costume was certainly that worn by Harvey Stratton in Adriatic, seen here with Mr Lord, dressed as he always is!
We raised over £500 from a cake sale, wearing own clothes and various children being sponsored to speak in any language that was not English for the day. Several of our bilingual children were successful in this and managed to cope with the frustrations of not being understood by all their peers!
Well Done to everyone for another very impressive event. I am glad all the cakes were sold so promptly, as all the staff were doing their bit and felt very full indeed by the end of the day. We were not looking forward to eating any leftovers!
Money raised by Comic Relief goes to so many deserving causes, as our children heard at a lovely assembly in the morning taken by Mr Wicker. The children decided that they could not choose one specific cause (as had been offered by Comic Relief this year) and that the money raised should go to general relief across Africa.
