About Us

Our Aims

The Cambridge International School has two Founding Principles:

  • To enable all children to flourish in a stimulating educational and international environment
  • To provide internationally mobile families with an excellent stable educational framework

All children should be happy at school and not be troubled from an early age by attainment targets and academic pressures. At the Cambridge international School we promote confidence and creativity in a happy learning environment.

We believe that all children are inquisitive, dynamic, creative thinkers. We know that children learn at different paces and can be interested by a variety of diverse aspects and we will explore and promote the most comfortable learning approach for each pupil. Our basic aims are to ensure understanding, to develop the skills of inquiry in a stimulating but unpressurised setting and to have fun!

Our students cover a broad range of subjects that equip them to go forward as strong, independent thinkers taking their place in an interconnected world.

We provide a caring, family-like community. Class sizes are small with a high ratio of staff to students. Our staff are drawn from all over the world and bring to the School their various cultural experiences.

We want our children to see world-wide connections, interdependency in issues and to gain a sense of responsibility. The students will be aware of their own cultural views and those of others. We aim to go beyond including a diversity of cultural experiences to actively encouraging our students to seek out and understand another’s perspective.

English is our spoken language. A basic tenet of our school is the early exposure to other languages. Language learning is a treasured part of our school and begins in the early years. All children are taught one modern foreign language in their first year with us and encouraged to take on another when they are ready.

We will also have a mother tongue programme to recognise and encourage the many languages of our students. If a parent has a specific language that they would like us to teach, we are happy to arrange this.

The Directors of The Cambridge Interrnational School are Dr Harriet Sturdy and Dr Daniel Sturdy. Children of the Founding Headmistress of Sancton Wood School and currently on the Board of Directors for Sancton Wood, Holme Court and a related educational consultancy, both bring a wealth of diverse and sometimes unconventional experience to the project.

Our curriculum was devised by Dr Cathy Preston. She is highly experienced in both research and day to day life of international schools, as both a parent and member of staff in international schools in Europe.

The Cambridge International School is registered by the Department for Education and Skills and is endorsed by the University of Cambridge as an International Examination Centre.

All parents are given copies of all Policy Documents including our Complaints Procedure. For all Prospective Parents, policies are available on-line or either by request, as paper copy, or as a .pdf file which can be downloaded.
