Warmest Congratulations to our year 8 Latin students who won the Classical Association Latin Speaking Competition on March 8th.

It was a double first for Year 8 as they won the Cambridge city-wide Latin Play Competition.

Last week students from years 7 and 8 won the national Modern Languages Drama Competition in London. This week seven students were proclaimed ’undisputed’ winners by Judges Anne Hutchinson and Joe Hytner. A flowing production inspired by Russell Lord (Latin teacher) and Thespina Coombe (Drama) featured Paris judging the gods and presenting a golden apple to Aphrodite precipitating the ten year Trojan war. Decked out in Greek costumes with exquisite pronounciation of first century Latin the actors wowed the audience of more than a hundred pupils.

The final results were 1st Cambridge International School, 2nd Sancton Wood (our sister school also directed by Mr. Lord) 3rd The Perse School. The Leys and Parkside also contributed with strong, enthusiastic renditions.

Mr. Lord said,” What a great bunch of actors. I <var id="yui-ie-cursor"></var>am really proud of them. They will pronounce Latin correctly for life never mind the huge growth in confidence success at this level brings.”
