In September 2008, Drs Daniel and Harriet Sturdy opened the Jill Sturdy Centre, also known as the JSC, in honour of their late mother, the Founding Headmistress of Sancton Wood School.

The JSC, at 5 Glisson Road is close to the railway station and the city centre. The JSC is housed in a modern, spacious building and provides classrooms and quiet study areas for pupils in Years 10 and 11 from The Cambridge International School and Sancton Wood School. The building boasts a new, purpose built Science laboratory and a well lit and airy and bright Art Room. A large Common Room is a popular feature for the students to enjoy. The JSC enables the students to broaden their social circle in a slightly more ‘college style’ environment.They share drama, media studies and Spanish GCSE lessons with their peers at Sancton Wood. Notebook computers are available for use by all students and connect to the internet using the wireless network which is established throughout the building.

Students study for a wide range of IGCSE’s including French, German, Spanish, Coordinated or Single Award Sciences, English, History, Geography, RS (Philosophy) Drama, Media Studies, Art, Film Studies, Business Studies and ICT. All pupils are encouraged to take part in our Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme.

All pupils must sit an IGCSE in Maths, English Language, English Literature and Co-ordinated Sciences or Single Sciences. We recommend that they take at least one foreign language as well. They can then choose between a wide range of other subjects, some of which will be taken with Sancton Wood pupils.

There are certain subjects that we will encourage some of our pupils to sit in Year 10 rather than in Year 11 if they are clearly ready. This then takes off some of the pressure in a pupil’s final year.
